• MORNING TEA

    THURSDAY MAY 15, 2025.

    AS A CHILD.

    TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:
    Luke 18:17, TLB-
“For the Kingdom of God belongs to men who have hearts as trusting as these little children’s. And anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get within the Kingdom’s gates.”

    TODAY’S WORD:
If you ask children if they’d like to go buy a toy at the store, they don’t start debating whether they’re worthy enough. They don’t question whether you mean it or if you have the money to pay for it. No, children just receive the gift happily. They haven’t been contaminated with lies about how they aren’t good enough or have done too many wrong things. But as adults, when we hear about God’s gifts, we start reasoning things out. “I didn’t perform up to par. God’s not going to bless me. I struggle all the time. I don’t feel valuable.” Why don’t you start receiving God’s gifts? God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He calls you a masterpiece. He knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb and approved you. He didn’t approve you based on your performance. He approved you based on the fact that you’re His child, created in His image, crowned with His favour. Now you have to receive that approval. Receive that validation. You’re not ordinary, but a child of the Most High God.

    PRAYER FOR TODAY -
Father, thank You that You approved me before I was formed in my mother’s womb, long before I made my first mistake. Thank You that You approve and love me despite my weaknesses and shortcomings. I declare that I am receiving Your gifts as Your child. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

  • Are You Becoming Too Lazy in the Age of AI? 👇🏽

Did you know that 85% of tasks traditionally done by humans could now be automated with artificial intelligence?

While this statistic represents a groundbreaking leap in technology, it also reveals a troubling trend: many people are becoming overly reliant on AI, neglecting creativity and mastery in their fields. Whether in the workplace or academia, people are increasingly asking AI to "think" for them, replacing effort with shortcuts.

But here’s the truth: AI is not a replacement for your personal growth—it’s a tool to enhance it.

The Problem Isn’t AI—It’s How You Use It
Artificial intelligence is revolutionary. It can streamline tasks, improve efficiency, and unlock potential you never thought possible. However, it’s important to remember that mastery and creativity—the skills that set you apart—cannot be automated.

When you rely on AI as a crutch rather than a tool, you risk stunting your growth. Asking ChatGPT to write an entire report without reviewing or refining it, relying on AI-generated ideas without injecting your perspective, or delegating all problem-solving to algorithms is not leveraging AI; it’s abusing it.

To truly benefit from AI, you need to use it strategically. Here are some right ways to use AI:
As a research assistant, Let AI save you time by summarizing data, generating a variety of ideas, or providing insights from large amounts of data. But always cross-check and personalize the results.

For repetitive tasks: Automate mundane activities like scheduling, data entry, or formatting. This gives you time to focus on strategic, high-impact work.

To enhance—not replace—creativity: Use AI to brainstorm ideas or explore trends, but let your unique voice and perspective shape the final output.

For learning and skill-building: AI-powered tools like language translators or coding assistants can support your personal development journey.

Mastery still requires effort, and creativity demands courage. AI should complement your abilities, not replace them. Abusing AI leads to:

Shallow knowledge: If you let AI do all the thinking, you lose the opportunity to deepen your understanding.

Lack of innovation: Creativity thrives on human curiosity. Over-dependence on AI can dull your ability to think outside the box.

Erosion of trust: People value authenticity. You risk losing credibility if your work becomes generic or uninspired because you lean too much on AI.

In conclusion, let AI empower you to be more productive, but never let it replace the time and effort required to become a master of your craft. Creativity and mastery are irreplaceable—invest in them.

P.S. How do you use AI to stay creative and keep improving?

  • If You Don’t Take a Break, You’ll Break Down!

In today’s hustle culture, we often forget one essential truth: REST. Even God, after six days of creation, rested on the 7th day. He taught us the importance of taking a step back after working hard.

Think about it—back in school, we had both short and long breaks to refresh our minds. Weekends—Saturdays and Sundays—are meant for the same. So why should your vacation be any different?

    Don’t cash out your vacation!

Don’t turn your vacation into another work marathon!

When you cheat nature by skipping rest, it’ll catch up with you, sometimes with a *fearful doctor’s report*. Trust me, burnout is real.

Take that break, rejuvenate, and come back stronger!

And if you’re worried about work piling up while you’re away, that’s where virtual and office executive assistants like me come in!

Let me help make your life easier. Just chat me up and you will be getting yourself two extra hands that are effective and an efficient brain

Whether it’s handling your tasks, organizing your schedule, or keeping things running smoothly, I’ve got your back.

Chat me up! Let’s lighten the load and keep you balanced.

  • How I Stay Productive in a World of Digital Distractions 👇🏽

Every day, my phone buzzes non-stop — emails, notifications, offers, reminders. Each one promising something urgent, something I "need" to see right now.

As a Digital Native, it's the reality of life online, and sometimes it feels like I'm drowning in a sea of content, vying for my attention from every angle.

    Sound familiar? You’re not alone.

The constant barrage of distractions makes staying focused a daily battle. One minute, I’m working on a task; the next, I’ve been scrolling through social media or checking my inbox for an hour, wondering where all the time went.

The digital overload isn’t just annoying; it’s exhausting. It chips away at productivity and makes it harder to accomplish meaningful work.

But Here’s What I Do to Stay on Track:

    1. Establish a "Digital Routine"
I've set specific times for when I check emails and social media—morning, midday, and evening. This gives me control instead of letting notifications dictate my attention. It’s all about creating boundaries. Outside of these windows, I silence notifications. It’s amazing how liberating it feels.

    2. Leverage Time Blocks
I also use time-blocking techniques to schedule focused work intervals (usually 45–60 minutes), followed by short breaks. This allows my brain to recharge while keeping me productive.

    3. Single-tasking Over Multitasking
As tempting as it is to juggle multiple things at once, I’ve learned that multitasking kills focus. Instead, I prioritize single-tasking. I focus entirely on one thing at a time, and once that’s done, I move to the next. My productivity shot up when I stopped trying to do everything at once.

    4. Mindful Breaks
Breaks aren’t optional—they’re essential. But I’ve learned the hard way that scrolling through social media doesn’t count. Instead, I take mindful breaks by going for a short walk or chatting with fellow humans around me. It resets my mind and helps me return to work with more energy and focus.

    5. Unplugging to Recharge
Believe it or not, sometimes the best way to stay productive is by doing nothing. I carve out time to unplug completely, whether it's taking naps, reading a book, talking with friends and family, or practicing mindfulness. It’s a reset button for my brain and helps me feel refreshed to tackle digital tasks when I come back.

A Thought That Stays With Me
"In a world where you can be constantly distracted, learning to focus is a superpower."

I’ve found that staying productive in the digital age isn’t about cutting yourself off from technology but about using it wisely. The key is to take control of the technology before it controls you.

How do you manage digital distractions? I’d love to hear your strategies and experiences as a fellow Digital Native. Let’s share what works and learn from one another!

  • Leaving an organization where you feel micro-managed can be a tough decision, but it can also be a necessary step for your growth and well-being. Here are a few thoughts to consider:
    1. Assess Your Needs: Think about what you need from a work environment. Autonomy and trust are crucial for many people to thrive.
    2. Communication: Before making a decision, consider having an open conversation with your manager about your feelings. They may not realize how their management style is affecting you.
    3. Evaluate the Bigger Picture: Consider whether this is a temporary situation or a pattern within the organization. If it’s systemic, it might be worth looking elsewhere.
    4. Career Goals: Reflect on how staying or leaving aligns with your long-term career goals. A position that stifles your growth might not be worth the short-term security.
    5. Exit Strategy: If you decide to leave, plan your exit carefully. Networking and exploring new opportunities can help ensure a smoother transition.
Ultimately, prioritizing your mental health and professional growth is key. It’s important to find a place where you feel valued and empowered.

  • Discipline Shapes Your Future

MEMORISE: “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” – Hebrews 12:11 (KJV)

    READ: Genesis 25:29-34 (KJV)

While I was in secondary school, my teacher told us that every human being came into the world with a pillow of suffering which they must use before they leave the earth. You can choose to use your pillow of suffering when you are young so that you can enjoy your life when you are old, or you can keep it intact and enjoy yourself when you are young. However, you must understand that you will surely use the pillow when you are old.

If you decide to use your pillow of suffering when you are young, you will put yourself through strict discipline. You will study while others are playing, attend vigils while others are partying, build a good character while others are engaging in vices, and save while others spend all their income. The memory verse for today says that periods of discipline may not seem pleasant, but they bring peace of mind in the future. Those who do not put themselves through discipline early in their lives will surely have their pillows of suffering waiting for them in the future. The choice is yours, go through the suffering of discipline now, or face the consequences of indiscipline later.

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. – Ecclesiastes 7:8

Your end is more important than your beginning. It doesn’t matter if you are from a poor background; what matters is that you don’t die poor. It doesn’t matter if you were heading to hell; what matters is that you end up in heaven. Don’t trade your tomorrow for the short-term pleasures of today. Esau was hungry, and he traded his right as the firstborn for a plate of porridge; he traded generational blessings for a single plate of porridge! Today, we would have been talking about the God of Abraham, Isaac and Esau, but Esau gave his position to Jacob because he wanted to eat porridge. You might say that Esau was foolish, but many people are doing the same thing today. There are people who were destined to be great prophets but never fulfilled their destiny because of five minutes of sexual immorality. Some potential owners of multinational businesses trade working on their business ideas for a little more sleep every night.

Beloved, the cost of discipline today is nothing compared to its gains in the future.

Reflection: Am I going through the discipline that is necessary for a better future now?

  • How to ease financial stress

‘If you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?’ - Luke 16:11 NLT

Did you know that God’s willingness to bless you with more money depends on how well you handle what He has already given you? When it comes to money, here are some Bible principles you must live by:

    1) Pay God His share first so you won’t feel ashamed of not doing so (see Malachi 3:10). 2) Pray before you buy. Ask yourself, ‘Do I need this or just want it?’ 3) Keep mindful of the amount of expenditures versus your income. 4) Be in agreement with your husband or wife regarding the household budget and your short- and long-term goals. And don’t hide or misconstrue information about your finances. 5) Commit to excellence at work – without overdoing your hours. 6) Pay off all your debt (excluding real estate). Hold on to one credit card to help you build a good credit rating. 7) Save monthly (aim for a minimum of 10 per cent of your gross pay if you are out of debt). 8) Don’t co-sign a loan for anyone, and don’t lend anyone money you can’t afford to lose. 9) Pay cash for all your ‘desires’ instead of putting them on a credit card. 10) Assign funds in your budget for fun and holidays. 11) When you get a raise, don’t adapt your lifestyle to consume all of it. Train yourself to live beneath your means. 12) Aim to set up an emergency cash supply of at least two months’ living expenses (six would be outstanding). 13) Be satisfied with what you have.

‘Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless’ (Ecclesiastes 5:10 NIV).

    Read: Job 14-16, 1 Corinthians 1

Read: Job 14-16, 1 Corinthians 1 #WordForToday

  • To find a career path you can thrive in long-term, you have to align 3 things...

    1. Do something that creates value for businesses

    2. Bring or build useful skills where you over-index

    3. Find a way to make it fun and interesting

1+2 can work short-term, but without 3 you'll get bored and there's no way you can put in the effort to become truly great.

If you're having a hard time finding your niche early on (I did) here are some strategies you can think about:

    1. Assess yourself
-- what do you love doing? (doesn't have to be business related)
-- what are your biggest strengths?

    2. Research what other people do
-- talk to ChatGPT about your answers to 1 above and ask for career paths
-- reach out to folks for informational interviews to ask about their roles

    3. Try learning a new skill
-- to test a potential path, pick up a related course or book and learn a little
-- if it's fun, that's a good sign. If not, maybe reconsider

    4. Network / build your personal brand
-- this can help increase your opportunities / at bats
-- the more people who know you and have a positive opinion of you, the more doors open
-- consider platforms like LinkedIn and find the people in industries you're interested who are active

    5. Pick up a part-time project
-- sometimes your employer might let you pick up a small project in a related area (my example: was an Analyst, picked up Paid Search management)
-- other times, you might look for a part-time side project outside your current employer
-- you could consider a free project for a volunteer org if you're able

    6. Keep your head up and eyes open
-- sometimes the best opportunity for you is one you hadn't even considered
-- always be ready, pay attention, and keep talking to people
-- if a great opportunity presents itself, be ready to jump (it's okay to be a little scared)

And don't freak out if you aren't having a ton of fun in your early role(s).

It got more fun when I learned how to lean into areas that I found more interesting.

So hang in there, build your skills, and keep your eyes open.
